Custom knit upholstery

We knit upholstery fabrics for individual pieces of furniture. Our patterns are based on gradients and optical effects that run across the entire surface, without a repeat. Each pattern is therefore developed for the dimensions and shape of the object, with its scale and proportions set to match.

Every design is its own knitting programme. We produce only the amount of fabric actually needed.

The patterns come from our own pattern worlds, families of structures and colourways that we develop in the studio and continue to extend. We put forward colour proposals, developed from our yarn stock.

Variations within a world
Within one world, a group of pieces can belong together without being identical. Five chairs can each take a slightly different colourway. A cushion can belong to a sofa without repeating it. Pattern, colour and yarn quality can shift from one piece to the next, depending on what each one needs.

How a project runs
Each project begins with a conversation about the piece, the space it will be in and the colours you have in mind. Materials and colours come from our own yarn stock or are developed for the project. Before production, we knit a swatch so that the design can be approved on the actual material rather than on a screen. The upholstery itself is carried out by your own upholsterer or by one we recommend.

We send sample sets for client presentations. Tell us what you have in mind and we will put one together.

Measurements
Maximum knitting width varies with pattern and yarn, approx. 170 cm. Length is developed to the project.

Materials
Merino wool, viscose, cotton, linen and polyester, including certified organic and recycled qualities, depending on the world.

Minimum order
Individual pieces and small series.

Testing
Our textiles are developed for residential interiors. Where abrasion or flammability certificates are required, project-specific testing can be discussed.

Prices are calculated per square metre and depend on the world and the size of the piece.
