case studies is a Berlin-based textile studio, founded by designers Laura Krauthausen and Konstantin Laschkow. For over a decade, the two have developed knitted textiles for apparel, interior objects and accessories, working with a wide range of knitting techniques, from complex jacquards to 3D knits.
All textiles are developed in the studio’s own knit lab, a former granary in Angermünde, north-east of Berlin, while the studio itself remains rooted in the city. Each project begins with an almost obsessive process of research, material experimentation and color analysis. From it emerges a world of fluid gradients and patterns that shift with light and perspective.
case studies is a development-driven practice for contemporary knitting. Alongside its own limited editions, the studio creates custom knit upholstery and develops knitted textiles with brands and design studios such as Herman Miller, Santoni and Trippen. Digital design tools meet artisanal manufacturing, opening up new possibilities in knitting while keeping traditional knowledge alive.
